Senior Pastor – Dr. Rev. Larry Snow

Reverend Larry Snow began his ministry as Senior Pastor at Murray Hills Christian Church on August 24, 2003. A Portland native, Larry graduated from Northwest Christian College in Eugene. He earned two advanced degrees, a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from Brite Seminary at Texas Christian University. For the past 15 years he pastored two Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ) in Missouri–most recently the Central Christian Church in Springfield, Missouri. Larry’s wife, Joan (Prickett), grew up in Hillsboro, Oregon, and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1971. They have two grown children, Melissa and Christopher. Larry enjoys outdoor events including road-bicycling. Larry is happy to return to the Pacific Northwest, and is excited to work with the congregation in discerning God’s will and claiming God’s future. You can contact him at larry.snow@comcast.net

Minister of Education and Spiritual Formation – Rev. Karyn Dix

Reverend Karyn Dix became the Minister of Education and Spiritual Formation in January 2013. She had been working as the Youth Minister since 2007 and is excited to be part of how Murray Hills says “yes” to God’s call to do Ministry in today’s changing world. Karyn moved to Oregon in 2002 to be closer to family. She earned her Masters of Divinity from George Fox Evangelical Seminary with a concentration in Spiritual Formation. Karyn is also a trained Spiritual Director. She has a passion for Justice and ministers to women in Coffee Creek Correctional Facility. Karyn has a daughter who is an avid dancer. Church Administrator – Krista Tjossem

Krista began here at MHCC in March of 2015 when Chris decided to retire.  Krista has been in the early childhood education field for the last 20 years, most recently as a Preschool Director.  She and her husband Ivan have two boys, Sawyer (age 10) and Finley (age 7).  They also have 2 dogs and a cat.  Their family is very active, especially during baseball season.  Krista spends time outside of work shuttling Sawyer to baseball and football and Finley to Taekwondo and Hip Hop.  They attend Westside United Methodist Church in Beaverton where Krista stays active singing with the Choir.  Krista can be contacted at murray.hills@comcast.net.

Music Director – Ellie Hodder

Ellie Hodder began her tenure as Director of Music Ministries in September 2017. Ellie holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from Crane School of Music at the State University of New York at Potsdam, an advanced teaching certificate from New York State and a Master of Fine Arts Degree from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. She most recently served as Director of Handbell Programs at a downtown Portland church. She directs the church’s diverse music ensembles—Faith, Hope and Love contemporary worship ensemble, the Handbell choir and Sanctuary Choir as well as, the newly formed inter-generational handchime choir, SoundWave. Organist – Cheryl (Miller) Young

Keyboardist Cheryl Young has been Murray Hills Organist since 2006. She received a Bachelor of Music Performance in Piano from Marylhurst University in 2008. She performs music professionally both as an organist and pianist and also teaches piano. Past organist positions include Hillsboro Christian Science Church and Portland First Congregational Church. She has given solo organ recitals at the Old Church and First Baptist Church in Portland. As a pianist Cheryl has had extensive experience accompanying vocalists, instrumentalists and has performed as accompanist with the choirs at Walla Walla College, Portland Community College and Marylhurst University. She is active also as a solo pianist for charity, special events and private parties such as the Northwest Independent College Business Officer’s Association, Oregon Women’s Forum and Margaret Sanger Donor Appreciation Dinner at the Lawrence Gallery. She has performed as a soloist with the Marylhurst Symphony playing Bach both on the piano and harpsichord. Besides her first love of music Cheryl enjoys gardening, photography, writing, traveling and spending time with her cat Lucy.
