Serving Our Community

At Murray Hills Christian Church, we serve people in need and host the local community.

To be and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ, witnessing, loving, and serving from our doorsteps “to the ends of the earth.” — Acts 1:8

Casey’s Corner

Hours:

  • Monday: 2:00 to 4:00 pm

We work in partnership with the Beaverton Resource Center to provide a shopping pantry that meets a family’s needs, including non-perishable items, fresh vegetables, and milk. While we accept walk-in clients, we recommend scheduling an appointment through the Care To Share Call Center webpage to reduce your waiting time. For inquiries or volunteer opportunities, please reach out to us directly at mhccfoodpantry@gmail.com.

Background

Started in 2005 by the Church Elders as a free-food program with the Oregon Food Bank, the pantry has grown to a core of 70 dedicated volunteers who served over 7,000 people last year with no paid staff. The majority of our clients are referred to us by Care-To-Share.

Agency Partners and Donors

We are grateful for our 15 Partner agencies and advocates including New Seasons, Honey Baked Ham, Tom’s Pancake House, local Scouts food drives, and “Friends of the Pantry.” Our operations are proudly supported by grants from the Safeway/Albertsons Foundation, the National Benevolent Association (Disciples of Christ), and the City of Beaverton Social Services Committee.

Greenway Elementary

Since Fall 2018, we have partnered with Greenway Elementary to support local families in need. Throughout the summer, we collect school supplies and backpacks to fill backpacks with grade-specific school supplies. For the holidays, we provide food boxes, clothing items, age-appropriate books, and other small gifts.

Family Promise of Greater Washington County

We actively participate in supporting local families navigating housing insecurity, providing a community of care, shelter, and hope through the Family Promise network.

FEDICE

FEDICE (Ecumenical Foundation for Integrated Development, Training and Education) is a non-profit NGO that works with indigenous and marginalized families in rural communities in Ecuador. MHCC provides ongoing financial support and joins other congregations on mission trips to work directly with these communities. Specifically, we support micro-enterprise loans to empower indigenous women in Ecuador (learn more via the FEDICE website).
